Lake Parks
Phase 1

The phase 1 is situated alongside the Nuwara Eliya Town. Entrance will be after purchasing entrance tickets.
Phase 2

Situated near the Anicut of Gregory’s lake. Entrance is free.
Phase 3

Situated on the other side of the Nuwara Eliya town, where entrance is free.
Located inside all these parks, are restaurants to satisfy your appetite, Summer Huts for relaxation, Motor boats and paddling boats for the young and more adventurous minded.
National Park
Ideal for bird watching, Nuwara Eliya offers you quite a few national parks which are located within a radius of 1 Kilo Meter.
One can also view wild life and offers a comprehensive study for wild life enthusiasts.
Galway's Land Bird Santuary

(Located 1 Km from the town) Laying a few kilo meters east of the main town is a montage forest called Galway’s land. This little patch of land is famous for its bird life, which includes 10 Sri Lankan endemics. It also offers the visitor to view wild boar, barking deer and other animals. For the more adventurous visitor this is an ideal place to visit as it can be reached only on a walking trail.
Horton Plains

The park lies approximately 20 Km south of Nuwara Eliya. Horton Plains, the surrounding forests and the adjoining Peak Wilderness constitute Sri Lanka’s most important catchment area, of almost all major rivers. The Horton plains are of outstanding scenic beauty containing most of the habitats and endemic plants and animals, representative of the country’s wet and montane zones. The western slopes support the most extensive area of montane cloud forest surviving in the country.
Botanical Gardens
Hakgala Botanical Garden

Rising to an elevation of 5600 ft/ 1700 Meters a few miles off Nuwara Eliya, the Hakgala Gardens was established in the year 1860. It was established first as a cinchona plantation and then developed to an experimental garden for the acclimatization of plants from temperate zones in the tropics. Here one can find all the flowers seen in an English cottage garden in spring and summer. Hakgala gardens also have the oldest tea bush in the island, an ornamental pond and old style summer houses.
Victoria Park

Named after Queen Victoria’s 60th jubilee coronation and established in 1897, it has a land mass of 27 acres. This is a place where most people, specially holiday makers never fail to visit and enjoy the beautifully laid out gardens with the colourful flora and fauna which are maintained beautifully by the municipality. The flowers are in full bloom in March, April and May and again in August and September. There is a separate area for the kids too. Easily accessible as it is located right in the city centre and yet one does not feel that it is in the city Centre.
