It is a unique mountain forest ecosystem of Horton Plains. This is the 3rd highest peak in Sri Lanka. Its historical significance is due to the legend where it is stated that it was the landing place of king /Rawana when returning from India. This mountain can be trekked and the ascent starts right from the beginning. The trail to the top is through rough terrain but also through tunnels of trees and suddenly emerges on to clear grass areas. A must for the adventure lovers and there is a possibility of seeing wild life too. It gives a splendid view of Horton plains. Dotted with rich rare foliage the vegetation is a patch work of coloured forest and wet Patana dotted with shrubs and herbs in between. Thotupola Kanda can be reached from February to April and offers many breadth taking views of the surrounding savanna, the forest patches of Horton Planes.
