The History

history

The history of Nuwara Eliya roughly dates back to 1818 when Dr. John Davy discovered Nuwara Eliya as a place with a similar ...

victoriaNamed after Queen Victoria’s 60th jubilee coronation and established in 1897, it has a land mass of 27 acres. This is a place where most people, specially holiday makers never fail to visit and enjoy the beautifully laid out gardens with the colourful flora and fauna which are maintained beautifully by the municipality. The flowers are in full bloom in March, April and May and again in August and September. There is a separate area for the kids too. Easily accessible as it is located right in the city centre and yet one does not feel that it is in the city Centre.
